Wolves Dropped By Rampage, 5-2

SAN ANTONIO---The Chicago Wolves were kept down in the first period and couldn’t catch up, falling 5-2 against the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center Sunday night.

Center Jason Krog and defenseman Paul Postma scored for Chicago (6-9-1-0), who has two games remaining on its season-high eight game road trip.

San Antonio (12-4-1-0) opened scoring with a power-play goal 4:23 into the first period. Left wing Alexandre Picard redirected the puck outside of the crease past Chicago goaltender Edward Pasquale, glove side.

The Rampage scored again 33 seconds after, doubling their lead, 2-0, when left wing Ryan Hollweg ripped a shot from the left faceoff circle.

The Wolves got on the board, 2-1, 12:21 into the first frame. Krog redirected left wing Fredrik Pettersson’s shot at the doorstep past San Antonio goaltender, Matt Climie, top shelf.

Center Bracken Kearns one-timed a shot from the near point through Pasquale’s legs on the power play, giving the Rampage the 3-1 lead, 15:27 into the opening frame.

San Antonio strengthened its lead, 4-1, with just over two minutes left in the first frame when left wing Mikkel Boedker fired a one-timer power-play goal from the right faceoff circle past Pasquale.

Pasquale (5-5-0) stopped 13 of 17 shots in 20 minutes of action and was replaced by Drew MacIntyre at the start of the second period.

Chicago cut its deficit again, making the score 4-2, 6:26 into the second period when Postma blasted a one-timer power-play goal through traffic from the blue line.

Climie (8-3-0) made 25 saves on 27 shots.

Right wing Viktor Tikhonov made the score 5-2, when he received a pass in the slot and shot the puck past MacIntyre 2:23 into the last period.

MacIntyre recorded 20 saves in 39:45 of relief duty.

The Wolves continue their road trip against the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center on Tue., Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
